I think the Grinch is here to stay, the Trickster that he represents anyway, because he is the catalyst for our Awareness. We humans and the Grinch archetype need each other.

This world is whatever we choose to experience. The Grinch is a classic tale that reminds us we can each choose to melt any lingering anger in our hearts. We each choose to feel happy, sad angry or dissatisfied. Life in this physical world is much simpler than people often assume.
