Tell Me About The Forest

by Miruh on April 26, 2009

Farewell now my sister
Up ahead there lies your road
And your conscience walks beside you
It’s the best friend you will ever know
And the past is now your future
It bears witness to your soul
Make sure that the love you offer up
Does not fall on barren soil.

For the wind cries of late
In the whispering grass.
Our way of life is held
In the spinning wheels of chance.

I believe in the ways of an older law
When we used to dance to a different drum
And we are changing our ways
Yes we are taking on different roads
Tell me more about the forest
That you once called home.

For the wind cries of late
In the whispering leaves
And the sun will turn to waste
The heavens we build above.

Father teach your children
To treat our mother well
If we give her back her diamonds
She will offer up her pearl.

But I’m not bitter no I’m surviving
To face the world, to raise the future.
So why don’t you tell me, come on and tell me
About the world you left behind.
Come on and tell me.

A wonderful and timely poem. May we all hear the cries of our Mother.

Miruh, the forest whispers secrets about every creatures reasons for being. Enid Blyton offers advice about how to hear ths language in tones that can be understood. She writes children’s books in which she describes how to wrap one’s arms around particular trees and listen with the proper ear. Deep changes in perspectives ensue. People often underestimate the messages nature conveys constantly. Shift radar.

Hello Mark,

I thought to post this in keeping with the Earth Day celebration theme. A reminder to treat Mother Earth well.

Glad you liked it, peace!

Hello Liara,

I grew up on Enid Blyton books as a child, my first books were about Noddy and Mr Plod, then mystery stories with the Ragamuffin kids. I must pay a visit to her writings again.

Thanks for sharing!

Nature, our beloved mother whispers silently to be a witness to the world of happening. For she knows in those moments of silent witnessing, the stillness blossoms and reveals the Truth!

loved the stillness of the snap!
