When the creation was new and all the stars shone in their first
splendor, the gods held their assembly in the sky and sang
“Oh, the picture of perfection! the joy unalloyed!”
But one cried of a sudden—
“It seems that somewhere there is a break in the chain of light and
one of the stars has been lost.”
The golden string of their harp snapped, their song stopped,
and they cried in dismay—
“Yes, that lost star was the best, she was the glory of all heavens!”
From that day the search is unceasing for her, and the cry
goes on from one to the other that in her the world has lost its one joy!
Only in the deepest silence of night the stars smile
and whisper among, themselves—
“Vain is the seeking! Unbroken perfection is over all

“Unbroken perfection”
My sister you always bring such depth and soulful wisdom to your readers.
This reminds me of the stars in Swaziland. Perhaps because its very mountainous and undeveloped, there are more stars in the swazi night sky than i have ever seen anywhere else.
I’ve spent many nights just gazing up at them, surrendering my worries and the troubles of a wounded world unto the unbroken perfection of the universe,
My warmest love to you sister Miruh,
Maithri
Dear Maithri,
How beautiful, I could just imagine the Swazi starlit night. Even though they were a million light years away they still reflect the unbroken perfection that always is. And this wounded world is thus perfect too!
May that unbroken perfection nurture you always.
Thank you so much for this post Miruh
) It reminds us that even when we are experiencing troubles on the road of life, Perfection still exists, we just need to recognize it.
Maithri, your words are so eloquent ~ “surrendering my worries and the troubles of a wounded world unto the unbroken perfection of the universe”.
This reminds me of when my granddaughter was very young. She was watching the falling Stars one night and suddenly began to cry. She wanted to know where they went, when they fell.
I wish I’d had your post to comfort her, at the time. Thank you.
Hello Nicole,
Tagore’s words are a potent metaphor for this life’s journey. It reminds us to see the perfection of this world, instead of being focused on looking for what is missing.
I agree, Maithri’s words lends an eloquence to the conversation. He describes himself as “just another young poet.” I think he is a great poet!
Deep peace to you Nicole!
Hello Marion,
I remember pondering the starry sky at night, the wonder of it all, and as a young child, I felt that it was magical and where I came from. Somehow I think all children have the knowingness that we are not separate, that we and the stars are one, that we belong to a greater reality.
Love and blessings to you and yours!
Thank-you for sharing these powerful thoughts.
Hi Miruh,
Very moving poetry. For me the creation is always new and everyday I find the stars – stars like you.
Hello Mark,
You are most welcome my friend; this blog’s mission is to boldly go where all beings have been before: to the stars, to the outer limits and beyond all imagination!
Hello Alexys,
Ah! With fellow stars like you, the world is a far better place, just knowing that your light shines bright on the return path home.
Fierce love to you my friend!
The deepest silence is the teacher within our core selves. This emptiness inspires reconnection with soul and all that is.
Well said Liara, silence is our ally and most profound teacher.
Deep peace to you my friend!
